Road to Zero Harm
Road to Zero Harm is our ambitious road safety initiative to realise our vision that no one should be killed or seriously injured on our roads.
Whether you’re travelling to work, visiting family or friends, heading on holiday, or moving goods around the country, we believe everyone deserves to get to their destination safely.
Road to Zero Harm aims to achieve safer journeys, fewer serious incidents, and better outcomes when things go wrong.
Working with partners
This initiative can't be achieved by one organisation alone. That's why we're working with partners across government, emergency services and local authorities to improve road safety through a Safe System approach.
The approach means recognising that different organisations are responsible for different parts of the system – roads, speeds, vehicles, road users and emergency response – and focusing action based on what each can control and influence.
Together with our partners, we're taking coordinated action to make journeys safer by:
- managing speeds so they better reflect how roads are designed and used
- enhancing the safety of roads and roadsides
- influencing the development and use of safer vehicles
- helping road users interact safely with each other and the road environment
- improving how quickly and effectively people receive help following incidents
- using data, research, and innovation to continuously improve road safety
